Do Not Call Registry Extended Indefinitely

Good news for those who no longer wish to be called by telemarketers: on Feb. 15, President Bush signed into law H.R. 3541, the “Do-Not-Call Improvement Act of 2007.

The law will ensure that, once your number is on the National Do Not Call List, it will remain there in perpetuity. Before this act was signed into law, individuals had to re-register their number every five years. All is not lost for telemarketers. The government must periodically verify that numbers on the registry have not been disconnected or reassigned.
