Reporter (Freelance)

Fastcase, a leading legal information technology company and publisher, is relaunching the recently acquired Law Street Media (, an online legal news platform targeted toward lawyers and law students.  Law Street will cover major state and federal litigation and technology industry developments with the goal of delivering high-quality news content that connects law firms with potential clients. Our goal is to build a team of journalists to cover legal events, first covering the technology sector but expanding to other industries over time.


We are hiring two freelance news writers, with the opportunity to convert to full-time journalists to form our inaugural reporter team.  Additionally, as we develop Law Street as a platform, we are looking for journalistic insight to help shape our coverage, workflow, and structure of Law Street Media.  The ideal candidate has a strong writing and news/journalism background and embraces data-driven journalism. The ideal candidate has entry-level to 3 years of experience, with the ability to work effectively with our market audience of lawyers, and law firms.   Experience editing legal or business news is a plus. D.C.  or New York City location preferred but not required.  Part-time options for students are available, and law or journalism students are encouraged to apply. 



  • Entry to 3 years of experience in journalism, embracing analytics reporting.
  • BA/BS required;
  • Savvy social media skills
