Data visualization and topic mapping are two of the most important trends in legal information. Kimball Parker, a former Quinn Emanuel lawyer, is using both to help law students and lawyers to understand the law more easily. He created Co/Counsel as a crowdsourcing platform designed to make the law more accessible and understandable through visual maps of the logic of the law. Co/Counsel combines topic maps diagramed by law students as part of its interactive learning activity. Those legal topic maps are made public and open to community editing, and this unique combination of the wisdom of experts and the wisdom of crowds creates new and open avenues for exploring and understanding the law.
