Migration Through the Mirror is a collection of reflections by women of different backgrounds and professional experiences. From a female perspective, the women recount different scenarios where migrant Mexican women thrive in the American territory. The book includes both an English and Spanish version of their narratives.

The migration dynamic from Mexico to the United States has been the subject of many studies and analyses. Studies have concluded that female migration has notably increased and because of it the participation of migrant Mexican women has led them to go from passive travelers who only sought to act as a link to family reunification, to now, playing an active role in the labor market of the migration process.

 

Migration Through the Mirror is a collection of reflections by women of different backgrounds and professional experiences. From a female perspective, the women recount different scenarios where migrant Mexican women thrive in the American territory.

 

This collection was presented at the binational conference Mexican Women, Their Empowerment and Contribution in the United States. The conference was organized by the Center for Mexicans in the Globalization (CMG) and St. Mary s University School of Law in San Antonio, Texas.

 

La dinámica de Migración de México a Estados Unidos ha sido objeto de diversos estudios y análisis que llevan a la conclusión de que la migración femenina ha crecido notoriamente -y por ende-, la participación de las mujeres migrantes mexicanas las ha llevado de ser agentes pasivas quienes buscaban solamente ser el vínculo para la reunificación familiar, a desempeñar roles más activos al insertarse en el mercado laboral en los procesos migratorios.

 

La Migración a través del Espejo es la recopilación del análisis de mujeres de diversa formación, que bajo su óptica, experiencia profesional y desde la mirada de género, observan los diferentes escenarios en que las mujeres migrantes mexicanas se desarrollan en territorio estadounidense.

 

Se trata de la recopilación de lo expuesto en el Conversatorio Binacional Las Mujeres Mexicanas, su empoderamiento y contribución en Estados Unidos llevado a cabo de manera coordinada por el Centro de los Mexicanos en la Globalización (CMG) y la Facultad de Derecho de la Universidad de St. Mary s de San Antonio, Texas.
